In February 2025, Costa Rica’s Ministry of Health introduced a new regulation to facilitate the production and commercialisation of medicinal cannabis products.
These medical cannabis products will be available exclusively by prescription in pharmacies and must comply with stringent registration, labelling, and quality control standards to ensure patient safety.
The regulation aims to provide alternative treatments for various medical conditions while promoting responsible use and fostering economic and research opportunities within the burgeoning cannabis industry.
